The test is for a project at University of Sussex and will take 5-20 minutes. You'll be asked how you might link colours with letters or numbers.
OUR ETHICAL CODE
The purpose of our research is to advance knowledge of synesthesia and other mental processes, so we will process your personal information and test responses to that end. Your decision whether to take part is voluntary and you can stop and withdraw at any point during the study without giving a reason (although it won't be practically possible to withdraw your data once you have finished and submitted the test). You can skip any question you don't want to answer. Your personal information will be handled in accordance with UK data protection legislation, subject to legal limitations. We will store your identity and data safely, on a protected server and/or password-protected computer, and will not reveal them to any third party outside the research group, without your written permission. From time to time we also re-contact certain people to take part in further studies, but participation is entirely voluntary and you are under no obligation to take part further. Your personal information (eg. email) will remain entirely confidential. In any scientific reports resulting from this research (eg. for research degree) or in any data repositories for other researchers, data is published anonymously/ statistically. This research program is ongoing and your data will be held until it is no longer scientifically valuable or cannot reasonably be maintained. This research has been approved by the Sussex SciTec Ethics Committee (C-REC: ref = ER/JCS15+18). University of Sussex has insurance in place to cover its legal liabilities in respect of this study. When the test is done, you will be able to judge whether you have “grapheme-colour synaesthesia” (a special way to conceptualise letters or numbers) and your details will enter into our secure database.
